Wharfemeadows Park runs alongside the river Wharfe for approximately around two miles. It offers various leisure and sporting activities, including boating and canoeing, tennis, bowls, children's play park and paddling pool, or you could just enjoy the views, and feed the Ducks. Wharfemeadows Park, Farnley Lane, Otley LS21 3BJ Directions From Leeds City Centre get onto Woodhouse Lane, go past Woodhouse Moor, through Headingley, straight on along Headingley Lane, straight on at the next roundabout onto Otley Road A660, go past Golden Acre Park, straight on at the next roundabout through Bramhope and follow the signs for Otley. Continue following the road through Otley Town Centre, go over the bridge and the park is on your right-hand side. The park grounds are open to the public 365 days a year. This is a well used, very popular riverside park providing varied attractions for visitors of all ages. Its facilities include a large childrens play area, skatepark, tennis courts, bowling green, cafe, childrens leisure complex and formal shrub and bedding areas. Within the park there is an inclusive play section suitable for children with disabilities. This was constructed regenerating the disused paddling pool area with the Otley Disability Advisory Group (ODAG). If you want to escape for a while then why not take a gentle stroll along the side of the river Wharfe. The park is accessible to all and most footpaths are suitable for the majority of manual and electric wheelchairs. Otley is at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales - nestling on either side of the River Wharfe which meanders through the town. The 'Chevin' provides bridle paths, nature walks and forest trails whilst Wharfe Meadows Park alongside the river attracts boaters, anglers and picnickers. Otley attracts a variety of visitors, particularly those with an interest in history and the arts. Chippendale, Wesley and Turner are all names associated with the town. Turner painted much of the surrounding area while staying at 'Farley Hall'. Thomas Chippendale (the famous furniture maker) is reputed to have been born in the town and details of his life can be found in Otley Museum. It is in the Museum that Otley's part to the growth of the printing industry is also graphically presented.
